Darwin to Adelaide #1
Capt Ross Smith and crew in the Vickers Vimy flew from London to Darwin in 28 days - and crowned them heroes - the flight from Darwin home to Adelaide too 102 days, and was testament to their true grit and determination, continuing in the face of so much hardship - forced landings in the outback, damaged propellors and even one 47 day delay while the engine had to be rebuilt!
To complete the London to Australia Centenary flight, I’ve returned to Darwin, timing the trip to arrive and land in Adelaide for a weekend of celebration before landing the same day they did, on Monday 23rd March
The program is below and I am flying in company with Michael Coates in his Pipistrel and joined by many others along the way. All are welcome to join us at any stage whether for a leg or a catch up as we pass through.
Later in the week we’ll provide an update including the departure from Darwin and crossing the NT and entering Queensland.
Most regular updates will be on Insta & FB, please keep an eye on @SouthernSunJourney and http://ahsansw.com/
